Hello 5th Grade Families!

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me with the September Family Faith Discussion - if you haven't, please do so by tomorrow!

If your child turned in box tops for Fancy Lunch, they have received a fancy invitation with details on their day/time. Please check with them!

Our class had a "bonus" PE time this afternoon because we missed out on our time yesterday. On days like this when Mrs. P is making up class time outside of our regular time, students are NOT required to wear their PE uniforms (but can if they have them here!)

We had our first substitute teacher of the year yesterday afternoon, when Mrs. Meseke joined our class. She was happy to see her former students!

Today was our first chapel in church with our Chapel Families - ask your child how it went! Pastor Gary shared information on the incredible story contained in the stained glass windows in the church. If you haven't seen the packet that shares all of the details of each section of glass, there are extras at the Welcome Center in church.

Today's BMX assembly was AWESOME! Be sure to ask your child about the amazing tricks we got to see (including a jump over Mr. Petzold's HEAD!) They presenters shared a great message of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and determination!

Hello 5th Grade Families!
I hope everyone enjoyed the church picnic and 50th anniversary celebration yesterday - I know my own children were fascinated by the Jesus Painter!

Tomorrow, there will be a BMX assembly focusing on perseverance, grit, determination, and working to meet our goals. Depending on weather and pavement conditions, it may or may not be outside. Since it is at 9:30 am, you may want to send a sweatshirt or light jacket. Parents are welcome to join us for this fun assembly!

We had our first Chapel Family time today! Ask your child about their new chapel families and how they work. We still get to have time with kindergarten friends, but will be attending chapel with chapel families. Our families include students from all grade levels, and each family is led by a different teacher.

Reading: Today, we listened to a story called 14 Cows for America. Ask your child about the Maasai Tribe from Kenya, and what they did when they learned of the attacks on 9/11. We answered comprehension questions with the story, and these are homework if they were not completed in class.

This Sunday is Education Sunday - We will have Blessing of the Backpacks at each service. Students should bring their backpacks to church. They will be asked to step forward while the congregation prays for their school year. Students will receive a prayer card to attach to their backpacks. See you there!

***Students received their Spelling City passwords today. You should have also received an email from me last Thursday that had their password also. Spelling City is NOT required, but 10 minutes of logged activities may count as their "choice" activity. Students can check their logged minutes by clicking on "My Records" on the main screen.

• This weekend's church services(Sept 8-9) will celebrate The Blessing of the Backpacks at all services
• Sept 16 marks the 50th anniversary celebration of the current church. RSVP(on Trinity's website) to let the church know you will be celebrating with us! There will be ONE service at 10 am that day!
